The original Carnegie Quetzalcoatlus was made of very soft, flexible white rubber, allowing significant motion of the wings. The skull shape is clearly based on the now-outdated concept of Quetzalcoatlus painted by John Sibbick in the early 1990s, and even the color scheme of this model follows Sibbick's painting very closely. This was the latest-release to be repainted in 2007, and did not receive an updated belly stamp for that release.

Version: 2
Release: 2007
Status: Major repaint
Material: Medium weight light brown vinyl
Paint: Matte. 7 colors. Brown (body, neck, wash); dark brown (limbs, crest); black (pupils, head markings); light gray (bill); pink (mouth); yellow (throat), orange (eyes).
Stamp text: QUETZALCOATLUS / (C) 1997 THE CARNEGIE / Safari Ltd., Miami FL / Made in China CE
CE mark: Large
TDR rating: 2/10

The 2007 version of the Carnegie Quetzalcoatlus is a straight repaint of the 1998 original. It is the exact same mold and even the belly stamp has not been updated the way many of the other repainted models were this year.

Version: 3
Release: 2012
Status: Minor retool
Material: Medium weight light brown vinyl
Paint: Matte. 7 colors. Brown (body, neck, wash); dark brown (limbs, crest); black (pupils, head markings); light gray (bill); pink (mouth); yellow (throat), orange (eyes).
Stamp text: Carnegie Quetzalcoatlus 1:55/ (C) 1997 Safari Ltd. Miami FL USA / Made in China CE
CE mark: Large
TDR rating: 3/10

The final release of the Carnegie Quetzalcoatlus took the 2007 repainted brown version and revised the info stamp on the underside of the wing, switching to the 3-line Wild Safari style stamp, and including the scale (given at 1:55 instead of 1:40). It also came with the gray Wild Safari tag style.
